If all goes well Sierra Leone will be declared Ebola Free by the World Health Organization on the 8th November 2015.
In his statement at the United Nation General Assembly on the 29th September; President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma stressed that at a time when Sierra Leone was being commended for its remarkable progress in peace stability and steady economic growth we were hit by the unprecedented Ebola Virus outbreak on the 25th March 2014.
He said the Ebola Virus disease outbreak has taken a heavy toll on the entire socio-economic fabric of Sierra Leone. But with support from International bodies the country fought back and has almost defeated the evil virus.
The Chief Executive Officer, Retired Major Palo Conteh has said that he hoped this time round the counting will not be interrupted by another case so that come the 8th of November, the country will be able to celebrate after fighting the virus for over 17 months.
He called on people not run away or hide sick people with symptoms of Ebola as early treatment is the best chance of survival, and everyone will be protecting his or family and community.
Palo Conteh urged all to take action to protect themselves, their families, the community and the country as a whole and appeal to all to continue to wash their hands frequently and avoid body contact with others.
