In a bid to contribute to the post Ebola recovery drive in Sierra Leone, the Cansuyu, an International Non-Governmental Organization based in Turkey, has launched 21 water wells with pumps, donated over 40 cows and dished out thousands of Leones to orphans in different parts of the country over the weekend.
In his remarks, the head of the delegation Ahmet Yorvlmaz expressed his sympathy to the people of Sierra Leone as the Ebola Virus has devastated the country and promised that they will help in their humble way to alleviate the plight of the people.
He thanked the people for their warm hospitality in receiving them and accepting the little they have offered and hope they will take great care of the facilities.
Ahmet Yorvlmaz gave a brief overview of their organization and introduced Nesut Ceylan and Adil Kurtar who were also in the delegation. He thanked the government of Sierra Leone for creating a situation for them to extend their support to the people.
In his remarks, the Regional Director for Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, Sheikh Mohamed Lamin Fofanah said the Cansuyu is a humanitarian organization that helps poor people in the region by Building Water wells, schools, hospitals and supporting orphans. He disclosed that they have launched six (6) water wells in Kono, three (3) in Lunsar, six (6) in Magburaka , three (3) in Bo, two (2) in Kenema and one (1) in Waterloo.
Sheikh Fofanah further disclosed that they were able to sponsor 75 orphans? in Kono and will continue to give them monthly stipends. He encouraged beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity given to them so that the donors will be inspired to give more support to benefit the people of this country.
In her Vote of thanks, the facilitator Madam Zainab Sheriff, would be aspirant of constituency 50 expressed her gratitude for the donation of 3 water wells and 5 cows to her constituency. She thanked the donors for their immense contribution in giving hope to the people after they have gone through the devastating Ebola disease and appeal for more assistance in the form of building of Schools, Mosque and stipends for orphans.
Madam Sheriff assured them that they will form a monitoring team to see that the water wells are used properly. She prayed for the well-being of the donors and hope they will continue to give more assistance not only to her constituency but to the country as a whole.
The program was climaxed by prayers for the various donors, the organization and the implementers .
